Bird and Butterfly Survey – Coimbatore Forest Divison

Nature Society of Tirupur team participated in the Bird and Butterfly Survey conducted on behalf of the Coimbatore Forest Department by the Coimbatore Nature Society,  Nature and Butterfly Society and WWF on the 12th and 13 December, 2020. Our team was allocated with the Sirumugai Range – Uliyur, Koothamandi and Kandhavayal on these two days.

The survey was carried out on Day 1 – Saturday, from 6.30 am to 10.30 am in Uliyur beat by Ravindran, Gopalakrishnan, Meignanamurthy, AV Senthil , Ramkumar from NST along with the Forest Guard Mr. Arish Babu and Watchers Kanakaraj, Prakash and Senthil Raja.

On Day 2- Sunday, the survey was done in Koothamandi, Alurvayal and Kandhavayal beats from 7.00 am to 10.00 am.

A total number of 82 species of Birds, 22 species of Butterflies and 6 species of Mammals were recorded during the survey. The survey report was handed over to the organising team on Sunday evening at the Coimbatore Forest College campus.
